'Wink' Triggered Contact Lens Camera Patented By Samsung

Samsung may be exiting the UK camera market but a recent patent granted in South Korea suggests they’re not leaving the picture taking World behind altogether.

The patent is for smart contact lenses that feature a built-in camera that captures images when the wearer blinks and the images are also projected directly into the eye. According to SamMobile, the device also features a rather tiny display, antenna and several sensors which detect movement and a smartphone can be used for processing the shots.

SamMobile also reports that a ‘Gear Blink’ trademark application was also made by Samsung in the USA and South Korea but there’s no reports, as of yet, to suggest the trademark application and patent filing are actually related.
